Client quick start
Connect to your rChat server in a few minutes.
Prerequisites
Section titled “Prerequisites”- A running rChat server (see Server Quick Start)
- The server WebSocket address (e.g.
wss://your-server.com)
Available clients
Section titled “Available clients”rChat has native clients for iOS, macOS, and the command line.

How clients work
Section titled “How clients work”- Connect to the server over TLS 1.3
- Generate an identity key (Ed25519) stored locally on your device
- Publish your public key to the server
- Start a conversation by looking up your contact’s public key
- Exchange messages encrypted end-to-end with the Double Ratchet
No passwords, no accounts, no phone numbers. Your identity is your public key.
